The Convergent Catholic Communion is a family of churches and ministries that seeks to bring together the major historic streams of Christian tradition; we are Affirming, Charismatic, Evangelical, and Sacramental. In addition, unlike most Convergent Christians, we are an open, affirming, and grace-filled Communion believing that Christ’s love and ministry are open to all - regardless of anyone’s denominational background, political party, class, race, gender, sexual orientation, or age. We are all one in Christ.
We strive to model our lives in a way that brings praise to God, not only with our lips but also in our actions, by giving up ourselves in service to God and to our neighbor. This dedication is the fulfillment of mission to share the radically inclusive gospel of Jesus Christ to 'whosoever will'.

Saint Thomas Weller

Collect: Eternal and loving God, who has called us to walk humbly with you in justice, mercy and kindness; grant that we, like your saint, Thomas Weller, may have the strength and wisdom to be a voice for the downtrodden and forgotten, so that we may live lives that direct others into the arms of Your beloved Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God now and forever. Amen.
About St. Thomas Weller: Thomas Weller was born in 1949 and was quickly adopted by the Weller Family of Akron, Ohio. He would spend the formative days of his life in Akron, Ohio before God would take him West. He grew up in the Presbyterian Church and hoped to one day attend seminary so that he could pursue ministry through that tradition, but God had a different plan. Instead of pursuing ministry right away, Tom was led to study sociology and psychology at Akron University. After college, he went right to work helping the less fortunate find housing. His decision to marry a Catholic, and the subsequent fall out between his Pastor and her Priest, led him away from the organized church for a while. Later in life, Tom journeyed with the Lutheran Church for a season, first in Denver, then in Phoenix. It was during this time that the Lutheran Church was openly wrestling with the topic of L.G.B.T. inclusion. After his local church took a hard stance against L.G.B.T. inclusion, he felt compelled to speak up. He would go on to fight for those that were being marginalized by this church and tried, for a time, to change things from within. The local church eventually broke with the national church, and with that, Tom left for the Episcopal Church. Tom would remain a member of the Episcopal Church for the remainder of his life – faithfully serving as reader and greater. He never forgot his calling to ministry and became a founding member of Solomon's Porch (PHX) and where he began his walk with us as our Teaching Elder. In June of 2014, he co-founded the Convergent Catholic Communion and last served as Moderator. Tom was ordained in August of 2014 and was appointed Associate Curate of Solomon's Porch in December of the same year.
Tom's ministry took many forms, from counseling and benevolence to lively discussions and debates about social and theological topics on social media. He fed and clothed the homeless, counseled people into addiction treatment, and was a loving inspiration to other religious leaders, including some in the LGBTQ community. Waiting until 2014 to become an ordained Elder, he questioned the institution of religion at moments in life, but his faith in God and humanity endured.
In December of 2020, Father Tom fell victim to COVID-19 after providing food service to the homeless over the Thanksgiving Holiday and transitioned to his heavenly reward.
